Educational institutions should train students on fire outbreaks

Of late there have been several incidences of fire outbreaks in this country’s educational institutions. Several of these have involved dormitories of secondary schools.

The latest was that which took place at the Mabibo hostel of the University of Dar es Salaam  (UDSM) over the weekend. Luckily, there was no casualty in this incident, but two students had to be admitted to hospital following severe inhalation of smoke.

It may be too early to know the cause of the fire outbreak, as it could be an electric fault as suspected. This will not be confirmed until thorough investigations are carried out and the final report is issued.

But these fire incidents cannot be left to go on for ever. For, they have not only erupted in educational institutions in the past, but in other areas as well. Today it is not unusual to find raging fire in other places like forests and road side.See More
